Here in the final greetings, tucked in between Peter's commendation of his amanuensis, Silas (12), and the sharing of greetings, is Peter's statement of purpose for this letter. For his part, Peter intends this letter as an encouragement to his readers and a testimony of the truth grace of God. On the part of his readers, Peter intends them to stand in this true grace, whatever their circumstances. God's grace, not circumstances, determines our responses.
