Isaiah 2:1-4:1


2:1-5 Isaiah describes the latter days and calls for repentance.
  • mood: optimistic, happy, perfection
2:6-22 Isaiah describes the exaltation of Yahweh and the humbling of humans by the terror of Yahweh.
  • Judah did not fulfill the commands in Deuteronomy.
  • God is pissed and the humans hide.
  • smiting and humbling
  • High things are made low.
  • Why are they terrified? Is God scary? Majestic? Or are we just screwed up?
  • There is a day of reckoning.
3:1-15 Isaiah describes the charges against the leaders.
  • The people revert to anarchy and desperation.
  • The comfort to the righteous in verse 10 is rather like, "but I digress."
3:16-4:1 Isaiah describes the charges against the wealthy women.
