Tuesday, Jan 25, 2011, we began a journey through the Shema readings.
We started with Deut. 6:4-7, about which I will post more later.
We're also experimenting with a new preparation method: we prep by writing out the passage and then journaling questions and ponderings. We're still working out what the in-person study looks like.
My preparation was admittedly paltry - I only transcribed it and didn't write down any reactions. I did find that I gained more insights and got more from writing than just reading, and it didn't take that much extra time. I'm sure I'll also remember the gist of the passage much better.
ReplyDeleteWriting the passage was helpful because it helped me digest the meat of the passage more carefully. Next step would be would be to write down some of the things that the passage brought up.
