Study Questions for 1:1-2

What does it say?
  • What does 1:1-2 say about the recipients' identity? (hint: think outside the box)
  • How does Peter link the recipients' identity to the work of the Father, Spirit, and Son?
What does it mean?
  • Considering the link between the Trinity and the recipients' identity, how is identity determined?
How should we respond?
  • What is your identity? Who are you?
  • How should the knowledge of God's work adjust you self-understanding?
  • What knowledge, values/emotions, or behaviors are needed to make this adjustment?

Suggested Practice:
  1. List your identities (for example, sibling, employee, student).
  2. Pray, "I am not [identity]", repeating with each item on the list.
  3. Finish the prayer with, "I am a naked soul, clothed in the righteousness of Christ."
