In this final paragraph, Peter reminds his readers that Satan is ready, able, and willing to take advantage of their suffering and "devour" them. Therefore, they are to practice sobriety, vigilance, resistance, and steadfastness. The result of our "little suffering" will be restoration, confirmation, strengthening, and establishing by our powerful, loving God. Peter ends as he began, calling his readers to be sober and to trust God, whatever the circumstances (1:13-21; 5:8-11).
